At the Y, every school holiday program is a unique adventure. While no two programs are the same, you can always count on an exciting mix of themed in-house days, action-packed incursions and awesome excursions. We make every day fun!
Excursions
Excursions take place at off-site locations. We often visit places like cinemas, play centres, museums, zoos and local attractions.
A typical excursion day might look like this:
7:00am - 8:30am: Breakfast provided, art and craft activity inspired by excursion, and child-led play.
8:30am - 9:00am: Roll call, yarning circle discussing the excursion and expectations, get ready to get on the bus e.g. bags packed, wristbands and vests on.
9:00am -9:45am: Travel to excursion venue.
10:00am - 12:30pm: Morning tea, excursion activity and lunch.
12:30pm - 1:15pm: Travel back to service.
1:15pm - 3:00pm: Group game, physical activity or art and craft activity inspired by excursion.
3:00pm - 4:00pm: Afternoon tea and child-led play.
4:00pm - 6:00pm: STEM, sensory or art and craft activity inspired by excursion, followed by child-led play and packing up and resetting for the next day.
Incursions
Incursions are led by visitors to our service. Popular incursions include music and dance workshops, sports programs, circus and magic shows, wildlife encounters and more!
A typical incursion day might look like this:
7:00am - 9:00am: Breakfast provided, art and craft activity inspired by incursion, and child-led play.
9:00am - 9:15am: Roll call and yarning circle discussing the daily theme and planned experiences.
9:15am - 12:00pm: Group game or physical activity inspired by the incursion, followed by the incursion.
12:00pm - 1:00pm: Lunch and child-led play.
1:00pm - 3:00pm: Group game/physical activity, STEM/sensory activity, art and craft and social-emotional activity inspired by the incursion.
3:00pm - 4:00pm: Afternoon tea and child-led play.
4:00pm - 6:00pm: Quiet activity inspired by incursion before packing up and resetting for the next day.
In-house days
In-house days are led by our educator team. They often include seasonally-themed activities like festive crafts and end-of-summer parties, as well as STEM activities, sports and games.
A typical in-house day might look like this:
7:00am - 9:00am: Breakfast provided, art and craft activity, and child led-play.
9:00am - 9:15am: Roll call and yarning circle discussing the daily theme and planned experiences.
9:15am - 12:00pm: Group game/physical activity, art and craft activity, and social-emotional or educational activity tailored to different age groups.
12:00pm - 1:00pm: Lunch and child-led play
1:00pm - 3:00pm: Group game/physical activity, STEM/sensory activity, art and craft or cooking activity.
3:00pm - 4:00pm: Afternoon tea and child-led play.
4:00pm - 6:00pm: Quiet activity and child-led play followed by packing up and resetting for the next day.
